What's In Your Water???

Ok, before I get started on telling you about this water distiller, there are a few things I should let you know about first.

1) There will be some details mentioned or pictured ( I will post the pictures the pictures at the bottom of this post, so if you would like to read this, without the graphics :) you can)  in the post that your stomach might not be able to handle. So, you may want to skip this post, (but be advised you may need to know these detail, just to know what you are consuming!!)

2) I did NOT get this product for free, I paid full price for this item, and the company didn't ask me for a review of their product. All this information is from my own experience with this water distiller


So with that, let's get started!! :D :D
To start this off, I have been doing some reading about health and things and had come across some information about how just drinking clean pure water could be one of the best things for your health, and to make sure you were getting your daily amount of water in a day (your weight in ounces of water) could make a HUGE difference in the world.

Well I was like "ok, I can do this"  So, we started getting these 5 gallon jugs of filtered and purified water to drink.  I have to say we were doing pretty good about drinking the daily amount, but I wasn't really feeling much difference health wise.  I just figured well I didn't get unhealthy overnight, maybe it just takes a while to get all the junk and stuff purged out of your system.  So a few more months go by, NOTHING :(


Well all this time I was doing more research and I had come across water distilling, I had heard about it before, but hadn't really looked into getting my own system, I thought only big companies could get them, but low and behold they make small counter top units for your own personal home use.

I found a website called H20Labs that makes several different size units for the home.  After looking over a few we decided on a little white colored model, that had stainless steel interior, and a BPA free container that it drains the distilled water into.  It makes 4 gallons a day, and takes approx. 4 hours per gallon to make.  One of the main reasons we went with this unit, was that it didn't have a heat coil on the inside of the unit so it would make it a lot easier to clean between cycles.

After ordering it, it only took about a week I think to arrive, and was so easy to assemble.  I read the instructions and started her up.  It said the first batch of water not to use just because of factory dust and particles may be in the system, so after the first batch, we looked into the carafe where you fill it with water and where the crud is removed from your water and it was NASTY!!  we thought it couldn't be from the purified water. Well.... because it was filtered and purified, so it must have been from the dust in it's system. So, we cleaned it out and got it ready for the next batch.

The batch we would be aloud to drink, by this time I was really looking forward to tasting the water. The water we had been getting, I was having to add like lemon, Vit C and other things, just to cover up the flavor, cause it tasted really bad :(

Batch was finally finished, poured a glass and took a sip, all I can say is WOW!!!!  It was the best water I had ever tasted!!! It tasted so clean and I didn't need to add anything to cover any flavor!

So...... Finally to take a look in the carafe to see what came out of our water.  Talk about YUCK!! there was thick slimy and powdery crud in the bottom that was almost a 1/2" thick and the smell was putrid :(

We then used up the water in the 5 gallon jugs and decided to do a test, we have well water and according to the site you could use any water and it would clean it.  So, we tried our well water in it.......... IT CAME OUT CLEANER THEN WHEN USING THE OTHER WATER WE WERE BUYING!!!! there was less crud in the bottom and the smell wasn't near as bad, well needless to say we no longer buy "purified and filtered" water, we just use water straight from the faucet.

Now, health benefits.

We have been using the distiller now for about 4-5 months, but I was already noticing benefits within the first month!!! I never new how good you could feel just by drinking pure clean water!!

Well, sorry this became so long, but I feel it was a necessary post that everyone should be aware of.  So the next time you drink your water, you might think about whats in it :D

Also, I'm not saying that you can only get a good distiller from H2oLabs, I'm sure there are other places, but I will warn you, while doing my research I came across several people who ordered units and it wasn't a good quality water distiller and left a bad flavor in the water.  I found several places that said to watch out for made in china units, said most of those made bad tasting water.

While writing this post I went in, to snap a pic of the junk that is removed from your water and left on the bottom of carafe, but a little helper had just cleaned it and started another batch :) so next batch maybe, if I can get to it in time ;)
