Testing and using Tinkercad

Hey all-

My sister and I recently bought ourselves a 3D printer, and let me tell you we are loving it, but this review is not on our 3D printer, that will be in a later blog post ๐Ÿ˜„.  This is about a online 3D program to build your very own projects to print on your 3D printer at home or at work.  The program that I am speaking of is TINKERCAD.

After we had purchased our 3D printer, we had the urge to build our own thing to print, not just things that others had made on Thingiverse, or other sites like such, but our very own projects.  So the search was on for something easy to use and for a beginner user.  It didn't take long before we came across Tinkercad, and we became hooked almost immediately. It was not only easy to use, it was free and I highly recommend it for not only beginners, but for advance users as well.  They give you a lot of shapes to work with to keep your creativity rolling.

This website can not only be used for make 3D projects, but also laser cut ones as well, although I can't vouch for that part of it for I don't have a laser cutter.

They have a very nice work grid to build your projects on, when you first sign-up they have short easy lessons to teach you how to use the shapes and how to group them together and such to make a finished piece to print, although you don't have to print out each lesson, this is just to help you become aware of the workplane and how to work with all of the tools

You have the option to work with mm or inches when building a project.  you also can adjust the workplane to the size of your 3D printer plate.

Tinkercad also has a 3D Gallery where you and others can share & print each others designs. There is so many designs on there you could get lost on there, LOL๐Ÿ˜†

Well this about sums up my usage of this website program, I still each time I use it find something new that I was not aware I could do on it and they are updating it quite often it seems, so who knows how good this site can or will get ๐Ÿ˜‰

until next time.

Later๐Ÿ˜—
